The Department of Pharmacy at Sri K. About the Course
The Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) is a 4-year undergraduate program divided into 8 semesters. This program is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the science and technology behind drug development, production, quality control, and clinical application. The curriculum integrates theory with laboratory practice, industrial training, and hospital exposure, ensuring that graduates are competent to contribute effectively in various sectors of the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare system.

Course Highlights & Eligibility

  • Duration: 4 years (8 semesters)
  • Eligibility:

    Pass in Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with:

    • Physics, Chemistry, and Biology OR
    • Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics OR
    • Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology
    • Minimum Marks: 40% aggregate in science subjects (SC/ST candidates exempted from this requirement)
    • Age: Minimum 17 years and above

Curriculum & Attendance

The syllabus is as prescribed by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi, and The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai.
  • Each semester has a minimum of 100 working days
  • Odd semesters: June/July – November/December
  • Even semesters: December/January – May/June
  • Students must maintain 80% attendance in both theory and practical classes separately to be eligible for exams.

Lateral Entry

Candidates with a Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) from a PCI-recognized institution are eligible for direct admission into 2nd year B.Pharm under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.
